Hull City have signed former Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink.
The Dutchman has signed a two-year deal at the KC Stadium after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Vennegoor of Hesselink is able to join the Tigers outside the transfer window as he is a free agent after being released by Celtic earlier this summer.
Hull were keen to bolster their attack before the close of the transfer window, but saw a move for Marlon Harewood from Aston Villa fail to materialise.
Tigers chief Phil Brown has been chasing striking reinforcements all summer and he has finally bolstered his attack by luring Vennegoor of Hesselink to East Yorkshire.
Hull chairman Paul Duffen was delighted to land Vennegoor of Hesselink and claimed the club had beaten some big clubs to bring the striker to the KC Stadium.
"I'm delighted we have beaten off all the competition to bring him to the KC stadium," said Duffen.
"We've definitely wanted an experienced, top-drawer striker who scores goals and Jan has scored prolifically in top leagues in Europe.
"It's what we need. We didn't score enough goals last season. Going forward we have a lot of new talent and Jan will play his part in using his experience to settle them down.
"We've been looking at Jan since July and are really pleased we've turned his head.
He's been looking at other big clubs in Europe but the Premier League is where he wants to come and play with us.
